The Maine Department of Labor has launched the new Maine Paid Leave Contributions portal. As a result, you must configure the Maine family medical leave – Employer (MEFMLER) and Maine family medical leave – Employee (MEFMLEE) tax codes in your UKG Pro® Payment Services - Tax Filing tax profile to ensure employee contributions are effective January 1, 2025.
Action may be required! To ensure first quarter filing is submitted timely and accurately, you’ll need to take the following steps:
- Visit the Maine Paid Leave Contributions portal to register for a MEPFML ID. The MEPFML ID will be 8 digits.
- Authorize UKG as the third-party administrator (TPA) by opening a case in the UKG Community™ under Tax & Payment Services > Tax Code - Add or Change > Other tax code issues and provide the email address used during your MEPFML ID registration. We will use this email address to request TPA access directly from the agency.
- Utilize the Tax Setup (Company) business rule to update the MEFMLER and MEFMLEE tax code configuration with your the MEPFML ID. For more details, read our Configure Company US State and Local Tax Codes and Add or Change a Tax Code job aids.
*If you're not logged in to the UKG Community, you'll be asked to enter your credentials when accessing the link(s).
