We’ve received initial agency reporting requirements for the new Minnesota paid family medical leave (MNPFML) program. Although the MNPFML tax code is not yet available for configuration, you may need to configure the Minnesota state unemployment insurance - Employer (MNSUIER) tax code in your UKG Pro® Payment Services - Tax Filing tax profile to ensure UKG can file your quarterly wage detail report.
Note: No action is required if all your employees are covered by unemployment insurance (UI), as the same account and quarterly wage detail reports will serve MNPFML.
Action may be required! If you have employees not covered by UI, create a Paid Leave Only account to ensure UKG can file wage detail reports on your behalf. Here are the steps you need to take by Friday, December 27:
- Visit the Minnesota Unemployment Insurance website to register for a MNPFML ID. The MNPFML ID will be 8-digits.
- Authorize UKG as the third-party administrator (TPA) for your account by entering our ID #AG006417 in the TPA ID box, and assign the following role types to the new TPA:
- Account Maintenance Update and Submit
- Employment and Wage Detail Update and Submit
- Payments Update and Submit
- Utilize the Tax Setup (Company) business rule to update the MNSUIER tax code configuration. Ensure the “Additional EIN” field includes the MNPFML 8-digit ID.
- For employers with only employees not covered by UI, open a Payment Services case in the UKG Community™ (under Tax & Payment Services > Tax Code – Add or Change > Tax Jurisdiction codes – Add or change) to have MNSUIER updated with the MNPFML 8-digit ID.
For more details, read our Additional EIN Information, Configure Company US State and Local Tax Codes and Add or Change a Tax Code job aids.
If you receive a tax notice, create a case by selecting Tax & Payment Services > Tax Agency Notice and include the subject "MN Q3 2024" and a copy of the notice.
For full details on the new program, visit the Minnesota Paid Leave agency website.
